I took the easy way out this week and used store-bought puff pastry as the base of my pissaladiere. Knowing my family as I do, I knew a pissaladiere or pizza with onions, anchovies and black olives was not going to be a hit. So being the smart mom that I am, I came home with pepperoni, mozerella and tomato sauce. I made the onions which were nice and I added some mushrooms and garlic. I put the onion mixture on one part of the pastry to see what it tasted like. I'll have to say I preferred the side with the cheese and pepperoni.
Hey, we do what we have to do, right? (And know what battle to fight). You just can't go wrong with mushrooms & garlic on dough.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
You are too cute! We made a double recipe of the dough, made a couple pizzas, breadsticks and then a smaller version of the actual recipe, just in case we didnt like it and it was all pretty tasty!
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly a controversial recipe! Love the tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteHappy French Friday!
Ooh, puff pastry! Great idea. I'll have to remember that when I'm really short on time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Win-win for everyone! I really like the look of it with the tomatoes. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your alter ego pizza! Both sides look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI was making the pissaladerie while some friends were over and there was more nose-wrinkling than oohing over the process and end result. Good thing they had dinner before coming over! That said, I loved the topping.
ReplyDeleteYour pizza/pissaladiere looks great! Isn't puff pastry wonderful? Now that I have an easy recipe for homemade puff pastry (no rolling and turning; it takes about 10 minutes & makes excellent pastry), I always keep some in the freezer for pizzas, pastries, elephant ears, cheese straws, etc.
ReplyDeleteI'd take a slice of your sauce and cheese pizza any day! Looks good!
ReplyDeleteNice job on the different toppings to make everyone happy! I loved the caramelized onions!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think that puff pastry and sauteed onions, etc sounds good. Nice idea and good for you to keep the home happy.
ReplyDeletesmart. I don't mention it in my post, but I made D and I "regular" flat bread pizzas while I was making the onion one. We like tomato and pepperoni too, and still not quite sold on the onion olive, though we normally like those ingredients.
ReplyDeleteI should have halved my tart and made one side without anchovies! I love your version!
ReplyDeleteYou did what you had to do! If no one will eat it, what's the point. We had company coming so I made a margarita pizza and a pissaladiere...minus the anchovies!
ReplyDeleteEven Nana warned me that I would not like it, since I am not a fan of anchovies. We plan to make more of these and definitely play around with toppings. But none will involve fish :)
